“Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Psalm 119:105
In life there are many contrasts – the plus and minus, the pros and cons, the benefits and risks, the costs/expenses and income/profit. How we view these contrasts can influence our perspectives, which can also affect the decisions that we make, our conclusions and our actions.
Also when opposing views and counter arguments are shared in discussions, depending on the conclusions, it could lead to feelings of distress or feelings of hope.
As we assess situations, a healthy assessment of the possibilities is encouraged. But if the assessment includes possibilities that brings a crippling fear, it is evident that mental trauma could occur.
When we face challenges, do we oscillate between different feelings? And when pieces of information are shared with us, do we go from feeling confident, to feeling doubtful, to feeling hopeful, to feeling unsure, to feeling confident again?
We need to be mindful of the events that can occur and how information when absorbed and processed can create or trigger varying reactions or responses.
We need to ask God to help us overcome any internal barriers that would prevent us from obtaining an objective and balanced report surrounding a situation or an issue. An objective report is needed to give us the clarity to make wise decisions irrespective of how challenging the situation may be.
Question:
Consider how you currently process information. What areas do you need to give over to God so that you can come up with a healthy perspective in every situation?
The next blog post in this series is entitled, ‘Confronting Your Fears‘.
