Self-reflection provides us with the space to do personal strategic thinking and develop our intervention tactics. Let us consider the question: what matters most?
There are times we may think that what we are doing is not allowing us to do what matters most. But I have learned that sometimes the things we consider not beneficial may be important things to do at specific seasons in our lives to support what really matter most.
Change occurs at many levels – personal changes, people around us are changing as well as the environment and circumstances. These multi-dimensional changes can prompt the need for major adjustments. But we have to always manage our present reality with our desired outcome, in order to reduce anxiety and stress.
Instead of feeling overwhelmed about what we cannot change, while being conscious of our present condition, we can focus on what we can do. That will include:
- doing the best we can for ourselves and our families;
- making the most of the opportunities that present themselves;
- spending our time and energies to plan and with God’s strength execute our plans in a way that will be proactive and not add more stress to any existing stressful situations.
In Proverbs 4:7 we are told ‘wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding’.
As we assess our priorities in life, the plans and resources needed to complete our priorities, and the steps we need to take, let us depend on God to provide us with the understanding we need to make wise choices. ‘Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.’ Psalm 3:5,6.
Be Blessed
