The Edifying Life

Being in an edifying environment helps to promote personal and professional development. The eighth edition of the Pocket Oxford Dictionary defines edify as to ‘improve morally or intellectually’.

Ephesians 4:29 states ‘let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers’.

If we are feeling discouraged that our efforts are not effective, a safe environment can motivate us to keep moving on.  In the supportive environment we would also be accountable for the areas that we need to improve.

Edification provides a balanced approach, combining being encouraged along life’s path with addressing the personal issues that need attention.  We are able to celebrate the progress we have made and be empowered to continue on the path of growth.

As we make adjustments in our lives, this will reflect in what we do and how we interact with others in our home, work, community and church lives.

I invite you to take pen and paper and reflect on the questions:

  • What one small thing can you find to celebrate in your life?
  • What one small change can you make to improve your life?

Be Blessed
