Thinking Things Through

When life gets really busy, it is easy to just start doing each day what we can to satisfy the immediate requirements and demands.

Over the years, while not ignoring the important and urgent demands, I have been learning that there is so much value in giving things more thought; especially when I feel really stretched or stressed. And many times the thought process revealed better ways to complete my tasks.

To help me remember the need to be reflective, I rehearse the phrase:

‘take the time to think things through’.

Sometimes I refer to this phrase as seven Ts. Also when things are even more critical, I would add on an additional word as follows:

‘take the time to think things through thoroughly’.

With the seven and eight Ts phrases in mind, I reflect on the activities to be done. In Philippians 4:6 we are told:

‘be anxious for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.’ (NKJV).

As I am thinking things through, I am praying for the Holy Spirit’s guidance to make wise decisions as I work towards completing the various activities. During these experiences I understand more what it means when the Bible says in 1 Thessalonians 5:17, to ‘pray without ceasing’.

Whether we are involved in home-related or business-related activities, it is a privilege to be able to speak with our Heavenly Father.  As we think things through, we can depend on the Holy Spirit to replace our understanding with His wisdom and we can be sure that God will direct our paths. Proverbs (3:5,6).

Then we experience Philippians 4:7:

‘and the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.’

That is something I am thankful for.
